Anyone actively invest?

And I don't mean people that got X amount of shares for the company they work for and just sit on them

Not really.

I bought shares in Man United just before the Glazers took over

Have a stocks and shares ISA which is a bit Mickey Mouse, and to be honest a waste of time!

And just because you mentioned it, I have company shares

My company blocks it as it's classed as "Gambling".

Ironic seeing as I work for a company that trades all day long.

Not myself, dont have enough free cash to make it worthwhile. But my Dad has a load of money in it.

Has a large chunk of a fund with WHIreland, and then has his own (smaller obviously!) fund which his guy at WHIreland invests on his behalf. Its no use investing yourself unless you are really going to put the time into looking at who you are investing in and the market that they are in.

Ive always been told you cant loose out with likes of supermarkets, energy companies, household names like Boots etc.

Never had the cash sitting around to bother with it though & tbh I wouldnt unless I could easilly write off what I gamble with!!

Yeah somepne like Tesco, Vodafone, BP etc are generally fairly secure... yes they go up and down but they *generally* will fare ok during turbulent times etc

Yeh but if you only take a small risk, you only get a small reward.

But if you take a big risk.........

..........chances are you'll end up with fuck all.
