I'm trying to lose weight and one of the main things i'm trying to do is cut out all the crap I eat between meals.

I had some jam on toast for breakfast and by 10am I was starving so I thought I would be healthy and have a banana........still starving.

What can I eat that will fill me up but isn't unhealthy.

Thanks........

Nuts such as walnuts and almonds are good to snack on. Very healthy but don't eat huge amounts.

TBH, you can eat a chocolate bar and not get fat. There is no need to get anal about stuff as you do need sugar in your diet, just not loads of the refined stuff that gets put in sweets.

Eat something that will fill you more for breakfast like oats or other cereal. Will take alot longer before your hungry again.

I sometimes get half a bowl of oats, mix in some drinking chocolate powder and milk then put it in the microwave for a minute or two. It's like a healthy chocolate pudding

correct, when your hungry drink a glass of water, as its the first sign of dehydration - if your drinking your 2.5 litres a day then you wont be getting as hungry

what your doin is alrite, its better to eat 6 small 'meals' a day then 3, so toast first thing then something about 10 is sound

look at weight loss diets, and see what they suggest for snacks - it will usually be something like nuts or somethin,

id suggest something high in fibre - youl need it if your trying to loose weight

When I'm at work I ration my food throughout the day:

I have toast when I first get to work in the morning.
Mid morning another slice of toast
Mid day sandwich
Mid afternoon banana

Then I usually have some crackers when I get in before tea, something I'm trying to cut down on!

I'm quite lucky I guess in some respects. I get up and go straight to to work, the first thing I eat all day is at about 12:15 from the canteen (usually a panini or something) then I don't east again until 6pm. Very rarely snack, never really get hungry outside of meal times.

Protein ... no joke.

Carbs generally = hunger. Especially the carbs / sugar found in jam on toast.

Basically when you eat sugar your body is fine for a while, but then as your blood sugar level drops again, you're body wants some more (like a drug addiction) - this causes hunger, in the hope you snack again as it's a easy cheap fix of energy for your body.

Pure Protein, like unbread crummed chicken will just fill you up and not give cravings.

Try having a breakfast of a few bits of chicken (like you get in packs at tesco un breadcrummed or battered) with maybe a bit of cheese for breakfast. Then as a snack at work if hungry before lunch, have a small handful of peanuts.

You'll probably find you still have bouts of hunger the first day you do this, but after a day or two you'll have no hunger at all, infact you'll not even want to eat or snack all day and food becomes more of a chore / luxury.
