anyone recommend any companies for doing this and what kind of prices they charge?

theres a place near me that will do it call dyno demon not sure on cost though

my friend got his MK4 GTi remapped with a few basic bitsnot even an exhaust system its making 213bhp

Go for one of the more common remaps such as AMD or Revo

as said above chipped uk maps are meant to be pants, i cant comment though as ive never actually driven one with a remap, just going by ear.

Have a look on uk-mkivs.net should be able to find alot of info aswell as people that are running remaps.

AMD and Revo are the best.
I'm getting mine done at AMD soon.

Also look at Custom Code. They are doing 30% off at the moment. Their maps are reputdely very smooth and not as aggressive as Revo or AMD maps.

Correct

I had my Ibiza cupra mapped by them and couldnt fault it one bit, loads of power from 2.5k all the way to 6k

AmD suck ass. Fact. Unless they have changed management recently. Doubt its making 213bhp either, thats a piss poor increase from a 180bhp standard and far too high from a 150bhp. I had remap, FMIC, turbo back exhaust, turbo intake pipe plus all the other usual bits bar turbo and i was making 215. To make that, if its true, is running silly boost.
