Hello, a while back (about 4 months ago) me and a mate were going to use a vehicle for spares. It had recently failed the mot so we would have to drive it from his work to his own premises to work on. As it was his name in the log book, he had given me permition to use the vehicle. It still had tax. My quinn policy states that I can drive any vehicle provided that I have the owners permission, however the car didnt have mot. As we were driving back, we saw a police car and it turned round, we thought the worst was going to happen as we were miffed about the legality of me driving with no mot. , I was on edge, ditched the car, stupidly me and the passenger ran from the scene (car was hit, rad was smoking). Now they are trying to convict me for no insurance, I was insured with quinn, however I didnt have a valid mot. If we had got the car back to his,, we were going to get the scrap company round after we had stripped what we needed so it was getting scrapped anywho. Where do I stand with this? What am I likely to get charged with? I am only 18 with a years no claims and I know it was stupid but I have no criminal record, never been in trouble before.

I don't believe you ditched it and ran just because it had no mot, they'd have made you get an mot and that would have been it.

right so your mates told them it was you driving, should have burned it tbh.

just put a puppy face on and tell them yours is the only car in the family and everyone needs it etc, thats the best you can do

So you crashed it and they discovered it had no MOT right? In which case your insurance is invalid so they can do you for no insurance IIRC, bad luck I suppose

If you would have stopped, or carried on as normal, you would be ok as they would have made you get an MOT as you were taking it to get it prepped for the mot......

You only need insurance in respect of third party risks to be legal. Your insurnace cetificate will state that you are covered thisd party to drive other vehicle provided you have alicence for that class of behicle and the consent of the owner.

You cannot get done for no insurance if you had been stopped driving the vehicle.

You fucked yourself by stopping and parking the vehicle, you then kept the vehicle on a road without insurance. As your policy does not allow you keep the car on teh road only to drive it from a to b.

Common mistake, 6 points for you sonny

If it had no MOT it should have been trailered from one destination to the other. No MOT = invalid insurance, are people not understandign this?!
