and the reason will be because it won't be the quickest thing out there and Bugati know this!

Basically the car is quick in a straight line and a luxury car inside... It's not built for track action really...

...... Yyyyyyyyyeeess ok, it handles 'ok' - but it's not a refined race / track car and certainly carrying A LOT of extra weight.

It'll always get beaten by a proper more refined 'super car' and thus Bugati will never want it to do a 'lap' - so they can claim they make 'the fastest car' (as in fastest in straight line / power).

I was thinking this, power to weight wont do the handling no favours etc..

It's a GT car, built for cruising in pure luxury at high speeds. The general public probably can't figure out that for themselves, and Top Gear wouldn't tell them because Joe Public would say that's boring information. They would just think that because of all it's power and torque it ought to be the fastest thing in the world as that's all that matters.

I reckon Paul_J could get it round the ring in sub 7 mins tbh. He is an undiscovered driving talent.

I remember talking to someone at Nurburg who reckoned a Bugatti Veyron would do the fastest lap of the ring

I was trying to explain that most of the ring is corners and that a properly driven Gt3 RS would beat one round the ring, but they would not have it.

The fastest lap of the ring ever would be paul_j in his 106, IF it wasn't for one of the reasons he always has for not being as fast as he is on a computer.

I was thinking the exact same thing the other night when watching top gear on dave. Would be very interesting to see how it would behave in corners

I've seen video's of them on track, they handle suprsingly well. However it'll never be as hooked up as a lighter, more track orientated car.
