They do make 1.4 Zetec's, that's the Zetec model. Zetec S is only 1.6.

Surely that would be millions to insure for a new driver, if you want nippy then it would cost more on insurance. You can go the sensible route and get a 12 volt, or have to pay through the nose and get a Zetec S. It depends what he wants to pay.

Zetec 'S' is 1.6, all the other models are zetecs. The ZS is group 8 still so doable.

DONT get a saxo, 2 reasons, theyre crap and he will get anal raped for insurance.

I think a nice corsa 1.4 16v sport if he can afford the insurance on that.

Or maybe a 106 quicksilver.... not much more reliable to a saxo though!

I have this argument daily with someone from work. He has a 1.25 "ZETEC"; I sometimes use my missus' car to get to work which is a 1.6 "Zetec S" The "S" is really more to do with the styling pack that the 1.6 engine Zetec gets; the 1.25 doesn't get the same styling pack

I'd rather have the T Sport myself! Girlfriend has one, and it's a fucking cracking little car! But for that kind of price, you'll have to look hard for a good one. We got lucky for one with 46k for £3,400!

1.25 Zetec.
1.4 Zetec.

1.6 Zetec S.

The Zetec models began in 1997, the Zetec S wasn't released until the facelift/MK5 Fiesta.

All the engines have 'Zetec S' on the engine cover though iirc.

I'd avoid tbh, they have a tendency to break, engine wise.

We've only blown one engine in 50,000 miles or so

1.3 Endura engines found in Fiestas (and KA's) will be more reliable imho. 8v too, cheaper insurance etc.
