Our centre are beeing stupid, and now have removed all the water things (cant think of the proper name) as the water refills cost too much
leaving a very hot workshop, with no access to any drink avalibity (ie not even drinking water from a tap)
surely there must be something against that ?

There are requirements in H&S legislation relating to work place provision which state you must supply drinking water from a suitably marked tap and rest facilities including provision for the eating of food which would otherwise be contaminated.
The HSE publish a guidance INDG293 regarding welfare provision at work.

quoted from http://www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg293.pdf
quote:
Do I need to provide drinking water?
Yes. The law requires that you provide drinking water and ensure that:
* it is free from contamination and is preferably from the public water supply
* bottled water dispensers are acceptable as a secondary supply;
* it is easily accessible by all employees;
* there are adequate supplies taking into consideration the temperature of the working environment and types of work activity;
* cups or a drinking fountain are provided.
Drinking water does not have to be marked unless there is a significant risk of
people drinking non-drinking water

Our place has a water cooler on every floor. It says in the toilets that you shouldn't drink the tap water.

If you have water at the sinks they can plumb in water dispensers which are far cheaper to operate and better for the environment as they don't need someone to drive over to refill them all the time

Not only do you have to provide drinkable water they're now clamping down on building companies if they don't provide a suitably hygienic area for eating within buildings they're working on and they'll also be soon asking all new buses to come with a toilet as well.
QMS guy was in our office yesterday the whole morning and was telling us the steps they're taking in the next few years.
