Anyone else seen all the news about malia recently on TV and radio etc? About english people getting set upon by locals etc due to them hating english people?
I'm off there at the end of this month! I wish i wasn't going anyway due to not having the money, now i'm wishing i definitely wasn't going! Think i've grown out of the whole boys holiday thing, i'm 23 now and would rather have a few drinks and a laugh, not this whole clubbing shit and getting wasted!
Looks like i'll be having to take a stab vest with me has anyone been to Malia recently (last 2 months?) what was it like?

i got a load of abuse hurled at me from some locals when i was there 4 years ago. haven't a clue what they were saying but their body language said they were trying to intimidate me. i just shook my head andwalked on. i never saw anybody getteing a beating but they were definately hostile.

The media make Malia sound like some poor little greek town that us young British folk have decended upon and ruined.
So they haven't got massive hotels, massive clubs etc... geared up for the tourists?
Quick enough to take the money and serve the alcohol, they shouldn't be complaining!!

Think when i'm there i'll pretend i'm American or something, anything but english haha.
Luckily i'm not really going for the night lift, only going for the beach and sun really, sod the nightlife i'd rather keep £300 than wasting it away!

First and probably last time ill do it but i spat in one of the greasy wee cunts face for nearly running me over, that did the trick.
Group of girls we were with got slapped about 1 day as well that year for sitting on a kerb. Proper bunch of arseholes who think they can treat you how they wish.

The behaviour of British people abroad is generally appalling. They have a right to complain to be honest.

Bulgaria was quite similar, however, once we explained we were Scottish the locals were fine with us.
There was a group of English lads who got a doing for being English in our hotel though. The rep told us that the locals don't like us

I reckon they pick on them for their inferior spelling capabilities.

My favourite was when I went to Dundee a couple of weeks back. Get to BHX airport at 0700 for my flight and see a bunch of people say "we're on holiday now, lets get pissed". Yea, good one, I hope your airline refuses you transport.

Call me old fashioned, but I think there is something wrong about getting drunk at 7am just before you are about to get on a flight.

No shit, i've been to a lot of places, and found that people hate the english, but i haven't been somewhere where the locals actively go around beating them up.
Doesn't help that its quite a small place, but like previously mentioned if they don't like it then don't make it a clubbing/holiday resort!
