Why is it when you just get rid of one debt, another one comes along straight after?
Paid off all my loan on Thursday (Just over a grand) and quite literally the next day, my car started playing up and they reckon it's going to cost about 600quid.
It does my fucking box in

The thought of being in debt terrifies me, I hate owing money, even if its just 100 quid.. I just cant have it over me.

I'm completely credit card debt free now thankfully, and now only have a relatively small loan of about 8k here. ( And now my car )
It is incredibly easy to get a loan here it is beyond belief...when I ring up to pay off my credit card I always get asked if I want to top up my loan.
One time I was curious as to how much they would give me so asked what the max was.... 25k sterling there and then over the phone and into my bank the same day! Utter madness.

ed what sort of pilots jobs have you found for after the licence?
I was looking into it and a lot of the current pilots seem to be getting more and more pissed off with the working conditions.
Is working for say rich people with learjets any better?

My intentions are to go ant try and get on a cadet scheme for Netjets who operate business jets for people who have a spare €2million for an initial outlay to buy a share in a Citation for 5 years or so. Seems like a good life, the roster is 5 days on and 4 days off. The pay is good as you are required to stay at a base (hotel room) away from home when you are on duty. When you are off duty you are off and wont get called by work at all. The rosters are set months in advance so you can make plans for what to do when you are off.
If that doesn't work out then working for a low cost operator would be the next best thing to do. I would happily work for Ryanair, even though a lot of people moan about them being unfair. I know a person who drives for them and is on a very good wage, has a roster of 5 days on 3 days off and is racking up the hours - you would expect to fly 800-900 a year with them which is great as BA or similar wont even speak to yo until you have done 2000+.
But basically the problem people have is getting that first job. So you have to go with whoever will take you. I'm happy with that situation and willing to take the risk

I may have another browse, the 80k initial outlay is quite a big risk though.
I'll have a look at netjets just now

Etihad have just started a pilot cadet scheme if either of you are interested.
My mate has just qualified to get on the course and starts in November...
