Kiv-tuning had a mental one.

Muppetsport has something about 669bhp in his MSN name but you can never tell what the hell he's referring to.

Surely that much power through a fwd car can't really be usable?

Not a huge issue if the car is set up correctly.

What?

669 BHP through a FWD shopping trolley not a huge issue if set up properly?

Of course it is. For starters physics dictates that the centre of gravity will move back when power is applied which will reduce traction on the front (driven) wheels. All the coilovers, ARB's, corner weighting, rollcages, strut braces, bushes, rose joints, slicks, unsprung mass, laser alignment, castor, tracking, rake angles, etc, etc, etc in the world are not going to make a car like that easy to drive.

I would love to see you stamp on the loud pedal at an apex and come out of the corner, which is what you are basically suggesting if you think it isn't a 'huge issue', the torque would no doubt double in a matter of a few hundred RPM on an engine specced to create that much power.

That sort of power in cars designed for serious usage it is still a problem, in a biscuit tin designed for tarts to nip to the shop in it is borderline suicidal.

tbh letgsi most corsa's with that power are used purely for 1/4 mile and show off events so going round a corner doesnt really count most usable lets ive seen are about 300ish and that is more than enough i drove a 450bhp astra mk2 gte the fastest one in scotland and that was scary fast !!

well im hopeing to prove people wrong as im goin to be putting phil suttons engine in a road going everyday corsa but yes admitably if you plant your foot down on a bend in a high powered car you will most likely loose it thats y wen increaseing power you need to increase common sense so we shall have to see if my common sense increases wen i get the new lump lol but i shall also be down santa pod and where ever there is track action whenever i can

Even if looking at it purely in a straightline manner, the guy asked if it was 'useable power' which Robin suggested isn't a problem if properly set-up, it is still a monumental sodding task to get the car off the line, therefore not exactly 'useable' when torching the tyres in 3rd cog is it?

well no that is true and yeah i do agree with you abt getting traction on a launch but i was just commenting on ure cornering theory lol but yeah it wud be a amount of unuseable power
