dunno why but was thinking once i finish having fun with this corsa sri (in a the next year or so) i was gonna get a car on finance...then thought of the time me and my mate went down for his mk2 golf gti and we were driving back from aberdeen and heard this almighty roar and seen a yellow S3, soon followed by an even more almighty roar, a skyline. since then i kinda fancied the idea of having one...but, my birds dad reckoned they werent that great, he said he took one for a test drive a while ago (quattro) and he reckoned there was too much road noise and it didnt handle that great. anyone got any other thoughts on them?

Won't keep up with a skyline mate

Good cars but you need deep pockets, after a suspension upgrade they handle mint.

My one

nice cars but its not a race car its a refined luxury hatch. Good pace but not lightning quick, good in all weather and very comfy.

Look great and modern, dash is a little dated IMO but very nice all the same

Id buy one

Compared to other hatches they aren't the lightest though. But I'd rather have something that feels solid than a lower quality product.

I would have loved an S3, couldn't stomach the servicing costs etc though, definetly need to have deep pockets.

I just had my clutch done..when I had my XE corsa it was £100 in parts and a few hours of my time, on the S3..I had under £100 left from a grand

Exactly...my mate has one and a sensor went which meant he couldn't turn traction control on, £150 + VAT.

Flywheel was like £250 + VAT or something, it cost me less than that to have the entire clutch replaced on my Fiesta, I'm glad I didn't get one now
