Been thinking (I always dream) about independent suspension on the back and by the looks of it it does not seem that hard (well its not like changing an oil filter but its not like turning a 5 door into a 3 door or anything?)
Would use the back suspension from a proton compact or something random like that (jap cars win lol) cut floor, remake back floor but a lot stronger, offer up new suspension weld new mounts on, make new suspension turrets, more welding, extend cage to tops of new turrets and down to were the new suspension mounts are in the middle?????? Win?
Will all this + new engine (let) + Life, the Universe, and Everything be possible in the nest year? TOTB8 if done?
42?
Indi suspension worth it?
Ideas? Suggestions? Rants? Flames?
Or is the resign no one ever does this is that it cannot be done/not worth it at all other than bragging rights?
Yes this topic is everywhere

No reason why you couldn't, I've seen rally cars converted to IS on the rear using bespoke parts which you then generally get full adjustment built in to so you can optimise the handling for that application. Not sure you would have the same success with the Proton stuff but it's an interesting idea.
I think the key to it will be building in some degree of adjust-ability and having someone in the know set it up. I'll be following it with interest though

the the front of the car, wishbone- strut-Suspension all seperate. Not like a fixed axle like a corsa has normally

Yes that’s an old/cheap way of doing it (swing axles)
if I had the money I would go for a multi link set-up and that would give me 99% adjustability but cost would come into it as yes you can spend 5k+ doing it but would be better doing something like that on a better base car.
Will look round nest few months at what I can use but will be looking at some sort of double wishbone set-up on the back and will see if I can do something better with the front as well while I am at it.
It would not give me that much adjustability but going to be a lot better than the beam that’s on there now.
Don’t want to spend too much time/money on it because at the end of the day it’s still going to be a corsa and all the downfalls that come with it.

£1408.03
That’s a chunk of money for something that’s only going to be a little bit better and can be better spent elsewhere.
Bet I can do it for less than half and still have same spec

Why not an astra?
And why spend? 25k on an ST when my corsa with less than half the money will out perform it
And there’s nothing more satisfying than modding a 16-year-old shitbox into something better than 97% of cars on the road

even if you chuck aload of monays at it i cant see it handling much better then a normal corsa. the only reason to do it. is to have it, to say that you have indipendant suspension on a corsa. you saw the time of ollys nove only a few seconds off the zen scooby etc.

Why don't you just cut the middle of your axle out?
I've asked before

1 second on that very small track is a big gap
And I am not going to spend loads on it, if I think its going to cost to much I will just bin the idea and just fit some nice coilovers and new turrets on the back.

It would make it a bit better and who says I am not going to be a raving nutter? I mean track nutter.. Same thing
