does anybody have one for their car. i'm thinking of getting one for the weekend as i'm taking my bike down to Aberystwyth.
the one i'm looking at is the kind that you attach to the tailgate. i will be putting it onto my old mans car as he's driving us down there. are they very adjustable? it would be good if it could be fitted to my corsa as well as my dads lexus.

Most you can fit on a range of cars yes, because they have fabric straps, which I'm not hugely keen on.
I did see one from Halfords however, which looked really sturdy with solid type straps
A lot are high mounted now so you don't need a light board.
EDIT: Not sure how many will be in your dads car and if he has split seats, but I now find it easier and cheaper to take the wheels off. The time it takes to do that you're probably fannying around with the bike rack.

My dad has one that he got from halfords. It carried three race bikes on a vectra so it was solid enough

I have a tailgate one. I hate it, feels unsafe.
Roof mount would be much nicer imo

it would be on the roof of an RX300 though so it will be very high.
roof mount + high car + overhanging trees = camouflage bike

The only thing is, I just read some reviews and it doesn't sound good about cars with slopping back i.e. your dad's Lexus, Vectra's, Mondeo's etc. EDIT: RX should be ok with that rack then - check the table on Halfords as to whether rear mounted are ok.
I saw it on an R-reg Polo (so hatchback) and it looked really sturdy, so that is something to consider. As is your bike frame.
I'd love a roof mounted, or better still towbar mounted with Thule rack with light board etc built in. But to get that you need to spend about £200

Take your wheels off and put them in the car. Same with seatpost/seat.
Makes me feel abit safer when traveling far when the bike is on the back

Fabric. But I don't hang off the back of my car using them, with the smallest metal clips on the top of the tailgate.
