Depends on the industry; I've never uploaded my CV or forwarded it to any recruitment agency. Infact as far as I am aware there is only here and BAE systems that have even seen my CV yet I get at least 2 phonecalls/interview offers a month direct from companies rather than recruitment.

But then again I work in a small industry where everyone knows everyone else

Come to think of it, i've never got a job through interview...i've always been "asked" to apply or simply been offered it out of the blue

I got "head hunted" for my job

I worked for a company run by two men, they fell out... one left and formed his own company, and asked a gang of us to come and join him

I get offers all the time since I came over here. Nice to use the "thanks for your interest, I'll be in touch if the chance arises" line that I got.

It's good if you can use a better offer from a competitor to get your current employer to up your salary

I hope I get head hunted from Uni. Who I do part-time work for is 1 of a few companies that do that sort of thing, so getting a job could be easier as I'll have experience.
