well as some of you know RIAT (Royal International Air Tattoo) - the largest military airshow in the world, held annually at RAF Fairford, Glos was cancelled this year due to the rain. the car parks were flooded and the 60,000 spectators had no where to park!
i was there a whole week previous to erect a tented village for the 730-750 ATC (Air Training Corps) personnel due to arrive on Wed 9th, as they arrived you can see what happened to the field we were camping in!

(the puddle was where tent #1 WAS until it was moved!!)
now the shots i took on Saturday when we had teh show to ourself!

- where is everyone?

F-16s

an empty airshow!!

RAF Nova

F-22 Raptor!
well as you can see, it was wet prior to the weekend, and the airshow days were quiet!!

tax payers? how do you work that out?
the airshow was cancelled however the site was open for VIPs all weekend and although the air display didnt happen, the static display was still there so was free for those workers/volunteers/contractors with pasess to walk around as we would do but with no public!

it took a team of 50 and the staff with them to put up enough 12x12 tents (which can sleep 3-6 depending how comfortable you want to be/length of stay) for 750 personnel 5 days.
a 12x12 can be erected from stratch, laced and pegged in 15mins, we raced last year!
Deano that B-52 is an old old bomber (b-52 = Bomber design 1952) and has 8 engines as at the time there wasnt engines big enough to produce enough power.
it is massive, it also requires wing mounted wheels (not seen here) as the weight when full of fuel bends the wings so much!!
