Ok, here's the thing. I done a HPI check on a car I went to look at, I entered the mileage of the car and when the report came back the NMR flashed a mileage discrepency warning.

What I wanted to know was, is there anyway to get more info on the actual discrepency other than just being told that there is one? Basically in order to find out whether the car has had 20k miles clocked off it or 50k.

Thanks.

I'm guessing if there isn't a figure on their database and you put down any figure, it'll come up wrong. Won't it?

It's usually done via MOT's. I originally thought the problem could be if the car has been SORN'd, however, that'd mean the mileage was less on record than the actual clock, however an increase in miles isn't really an issue.

I'd have thought any discrepancy was due to you putting in less miles than what was last recorded at an MOT.

No harm in quizzing the seller over it I guess.

Yeah, i've been in touch with the seller about it but he doesn't know anything about it. There are no old MOT's or history in order to back up the current mileage though.

In saying that though, the car is in very good condition and nothing really to perpetuate the notion that it's had alot of miles clocked from it.

The car has had quite a few previous owners though so could have been done anywhere along the line I guess.

Is there anyway of getting access to or finding out from previous MOT's mileage recordings? From DVLA? As i assume they must store all that information on record.
