My car got bumped into at the weekend, its going through insurers now, it should be getting a new front bumper, so will have a day or 2 in the bodyshop.

So will I be able to claim for a hire or courtesy car while its in for being repaired?

Was it your fault?

Either way, if you have courtesy car cover, you should be able to.

If it wasn't your fault, you might be able to claim on their insurance for a courtesy car.

How old are you?

Too young i'm affraid. Tell them you need money for a chauffeur as you have been inconvenienced by the other parties lack of care.

If they have taken the blame for it and are repairing t's up to them to sort you out a car whether you are 17 or not.

I got a courtesy car when I was 18, so don't see why it should be any different when 17 if the UK age limit for a hire car is 21.

There is a difference - if you choose to have a courtesy car on your own policy they have to give you one.

A motor garage doesn't have to give you a courtesy car when yours is in for a service though - my local wouldn't because I'm under 21.

The 3rd party insurance will have to give him one though.

Depends on the insurance company. With the AA (whom i work for) You have a courtesy car as standard on Comprehensive and Third Party Fire & Theft policies but have to be from 18 to 78 (think 78) regardless of fault and you get the courtesy car for the duration of the repair

Hire car is a different kettle of fish, or in this case, policy!

Hire car which is seperate to a courtesy car, will allow you access of an equivalent level hire car if your car is writted off or stolen and NOT recovered, and you will have that for 21 Days on Comprehensive and 11 days on TPF&T
