It's a good trick but you need to treat the part very quickly afterwards otherwise it will rust again soon after you clean it.

I heard about it's use years ago but forgot all about it. You can pay a fortune for alternative rust treatments but that seems effective.

use warm vinegar boil it in the ketlle then i works well. its also descales the kettle
