Not bad going !!!
Been going to gym 4 times a week, eating right with enough protein and LOTS of cardio and big weights sessions. 1.5-2hr sessions at a time

pretty happy with that.

Don't want to piss on your fireworks but most of that will be water weight/glycogen loss, usually happens when you start a calorie deficit diet. Keep at it, will probably be a bit less of a drop next week then it will slow down to 2-3lbs a week.

If your losing anymore than 2-3lbs a week then your losing muscle so would need to up protein/calories so your only losing 2-3 a week.

Good work though, keep at it, first week and second week are always good as they drop alot of weight, make sure you stay strong for the 3rd week and keep going.

oh yeah i know its too much of a dramatic loss to be "proper" weight loss but the routine im doing, for 12 weeks will definately give good results..

my problem is sticking at it... but if i see results when looking in the mirror i will keep going as hard

my main cardio is rowing.. 40-70mins a day at a pretty steady pace.. works a treat

I can't manage 15mins without blowing out of my arse, then again i'm not really into being as fit as i can be, just as strong as i can be

Keep at it though mate, remember its what the mirror shows not the scales

Yes your very wrong

Quick answer is: Muscle boosts metabolism so keeps you burning fat longer and quicker, the more muscle you have the faster your metabolism.

Doesn't matter how heavy you are... you could be 17stone of pure muscle at 4% bodyfat if you were a bodybuilder, weight means jack shit.

You need to do both mate - if you are toning up then do less a weight and more reps and vice versa for bulking up...

Funny thing is if you are 18st and you do 8 reps of the same weight as someone who is 11st you would have burned more calories....!

Keep at it though steve!

well its gotta be a good thing when your doing curl to press and the girlie are all staring and when some new bloke is being shown round the gym the trainer says "and if you work hard at it you can get guns as big as Steve..."

made me smile lol

Toning is bull shit, hate the word toning its so annoying.

You don't weight train to "burn calories" you weight train for the after effect, boosting your metabolism for hours afterwards.

God i hate the word toning, and higher reps for weight loss is also bullshit. Either way your tearing muscle fibres, its down to your diet if your "bulking" up.

I wish

Decided it was time for a change
Plus theoretically i/m actually lifting more weight by doing 20 reps @ 60kg's than I was by doing 10 @ 100kg's.

You and Craig don't like the term but you both know what people are referring to when they say it!

Yes, its because the little idiots at commercial gyms use the word too much, and its used to much in womens exercise videos and magazines

You don't like anal sex with men (do you?) but you know what people are refering to when they say it

depends what you are doing I suppose, I've seen so many people in the gym doing things wrong etc for example I guy was doing simple dumbbell curls and swinging his arms where he couldn't control the weight (too heavy for him) why couldn't he have just gone for a lower weight with a nice smooth controlled movement?

he definately wasn't TONING up

My routine is a 3 day split. 6 reps @ 4 Sets

Day1: Dead Lifts, Bent over rows, Wide grip pull ups/lat pull downs.

Day 2: Squats, Calve raises, Bench Press, Shoulder press.

Day 3: EZ bar curls, Hammer Curls, AB bench sit ups and twists.

They point out that i dont do enough on each muscle group and squats n deads arent effective ?!
I ve seen brilliant gains since doing this routine and it works for me!
