Mum was driving home from work today, and as she was turning out of work she said she heared a bump, and a ping noise come from the front of the car. As the car was still driving ok, (and also been a silly woman) she carried on driving. As she got to the end of our road she started to hear a rattle, thinking nothing of it she carried on until she got home.
When i got in, she asked me to take a look, so i went up the street and as i pulled off the drive it happened again. So i pulled back on and jacked it up on the front drivers side, and this fell out

One coil off the front spring

Does anyone know of this happening on an 04 plate focus, Cant see it been wear and tear as its only done 20k, seems a bit strange to me

Happened to my old Corsa. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what had broken, there was no visable damage or anything to the chassis so carried on. When I got home I found out that the bottom of my spring had parted company with the rest of it...

Luckily Mr CorsAsh gave me some new ones and helped me fit them. Then his mum made me lunch

My front spring sheared as I pulled onto my drive once, was lucky that way really, split in the middle and coiled round itself, coulda been much worse on the motorway.

Dad came out cos it went with such a bang he thought I'd hit something.

A snapped spring doesn't make the car bad though.

could've happened to any car, she probably hit a pot hole or something to make that happen before and it has weakened the spring.

You would know if your spring snapped. The noise it makes is like a gunshot going off.

Spring snapped on dad's M3 at 19k miles. BMW said it was common because of the UK roads, and they're made for lovely German autobahns. They replaced the one side.

2 weeks later the other side went

My dad went to get one today from the local motor factors and was charged £50. I just laughed at him, didnt realise standard ones where so expeensive, where as a full set of lowering ones are only £87 for it
