It's an old, heavy, shite handling granny car -- right?

Why do you bother?

I was asked this recently and I didn't know what to say.

But why not start with something better to begin with? A Nova for weight, a 205 for handling, etc... What does a Corsa have that's unique, apart from disadvantages?

A corsa was used on that crisps advert oh and on Hollyoaks...

p.s both a nova and a 205 are old and have more than likely been thrashed to reliability is likely so be an issue

I personally don't like the look of either apart from the 205 GTI's

But if the advantage is to put an XE or LET in it, why does it matter if they've been thrashed?

i like the basic look of a corsa
the shape of it, liek i wouldnt mod the bumpers to anything other than standard parts just lower really and if you have a car that you like but is too slow you dont go out and buy a car that you dont like but is faster you just chuck in a bigger engine or start adding cams manifold all that.

I'm not too clued up on car weights, but why not originally start with a Nova if you're going for minimal weight and want to stay with Vauxhall?

Age is also another factor, shell would be in most cases old and rusty! - which then leads on to more repairs and strengthening etc etc

I bought mine because it was cheap to buy, cheap to run and insure as a first car. Compared to Novas ad other older cars that would most likely have lots of rust all over the place and other age related issues.

Then I modded it to make it look the way I wanted it to
