Was parked up in a car park roadside up Great Yarmouth sea front tonight, speaking to my mate who was in his car next to me.
Black mondeo ST pulls up behind, 2 traffic cops jump out and one of them comes to my window and says "I saw you on your phone earlier whilst driving" i replied "No officer, i was not", "You calling me a liar" he said, "No i am not calling you a liar, im just stating that what you have said is un-true and false.
He continued to tell me how he saw me on my phone earlier that night. (WHICH I BLOODY WAS NOT!).
I began to state that it is within my rights to dis-agree with you if your statement is false. I also asked him why he did not come after and pull me at the time he apparently saw me driving whilst on my mobile phone. He said "we tried to chase you but you dissapeared at speed" THIS MADE ME ANGRY AS I NEVER EVEN SAW THIS CAR, AND WHAT HE WAS SAYING WAS TOTAL BULLSHIT. BUT I DID KEEP MY COOL WITH HIM.
I said to him you can check all my call logs if you wish to do so, or send my phone off for examining if you really wish to. He said no because you could have deleted your history or someone could have called you in which case it would not have been logged on the phone, i told that it logs all calls. He then began to call me a "little argumentative kid".
He said i can either take the fine and 3 points now of he will get me some other way. I was angry inside as i had done NOTHING wrong at all!
He then realised that he would not win with me as i clearly was telling the truth, but being a copper wouldnt admit he was wrong.
He then began looking all over my car, under my car. (Which by the way is a standard MK7 fiesta zetec s on 56 plate). All mods are factory fitted extras from ford.
He got some machine out from his undercover car, wacked 2 magnets on my windows and said that the windows are illegal. Filled in this form and issued me with a £60 fine and 3 penalty points! I also have a producer within 7 days!
I asked him what on earth are you doing, im totally innocent! He said your windows are illegal. And that i would have been better off just agreeing with him in the first place about being on my phone. I said there is no way i am going to be treated like this as i was NOT on my phone and have managed to keep my cool with you although boiling blood inside!
He drove off, and left me. My mates bird was in tears as she couldnt believe how un-fairly treated i was. And being only 17 its the worst thing that could happen to me. 3 points really sucks! And for WHAT...!?!?
I feel like total shit now, dont know what to do. How unfair....

So wrong.... magnets don't stick to glass.
Sorry.
Obviously he wanted to do you for something so he found that. If this is to do with the amount of light they allow through and they're completely standard there will be a VLT mark on there etched somewhere, either 70 or 75%, both of which are legal. You need to go to court and contest it. A trip to the station accompanied by parents or someone older may help as well to give your complaint some weight.
Just make double sure you've done nothing wrong and you need to make a fuss. You can't overturn the conviction but it's worth speaking to his superiors and making them aware that this is going on.

The car came like this, they have very very light tints on the front (did have, he made me pick them off at the road-side in the rain whilst he watched lauhging in his car at me).

The cop seems like a dick but if your tints were illegal you dont have a leg to stand on mate.
If you could peel them off then there not 'factory tints'. Factory tints is the glass thats tinted and not a film on the glass. My Mini has factory rears and the glass is smoked and its not a film.

If a magnet is on one side and there is another magnet on the toher side then they will hold there position.

It's funny how there's always something else to these stories that isn't mentioned in the first post.
Tints that you can peel off aren't standard as timbaland has said, it's always 17 year olds sitting in their cars doing nothing for some reason as well

That's why they get victimised. The fine bits just relate to having an illegal car. You're going to get stopped, the trick is to have nothing you can get done for.

I can imagine her type, And she is the most annoying type of girl ever.
Main thing is, It was illegal and you got done for it. The reason he was being a dick was because your car was illegal and you were asking him what on 'earth he was doing' as if it was legal.
I got caught for having no insurance, Soon as i knew i didnt have any i went up with my producer and documents and came clean with them, My own fault.
Take it on the chin, Learn from it and learn to put your electric windows down and pull the fuse out.

Id dispute it.
Was the copper trained on how to use the equipment properly, most oficers arent.
And was the equipment calibrated, you can ask for a copy of the calibration sheet.
Dont pay it or take them, go to the police station say what happened etc..id take your old man..i had trouble at 17 with the police all the time..they wouldnt lsten to me at all so used to take my dad along to the cop shop theyd listened more to what i had to say with him there.

Fuck that, i'd be in court with witnesses. I once got off of three points for an "illegal overtake" (copper out of his area, didnt know the road was a 60). Got off becuase he "didnt feel like the paperwork".

Most cops, if its a front window tint problem, will make you rip off a large chunk and let you be on your way, this way he knows your going to pull the rest off or look like a twat.
Definately dispute it, you believe the tints are factory fitted and personally havent modified them, you complied when asked to take them off yet still got points.
