Has anyone put a parent on their insurance and had it reduce the cost of premium?

may need to try this to get my insurance down under 2k FC

yep mine are on well my mum is anyway im sur if i add my dad it'll drop aswell. but yeh dropped it loads on this years and last years.

rac last year = knocked £300ish off
this year swift = knocked about the same off i think

edit: its still my policy they are just named drivers

Yeah, Mum and Dad (both "clean" drivers) lower my policy quite a bit.

I did it last year (me main driver, dad as named) and it helped a little

...flux said it would increase my premium with them for this year though My dad can still use my car though and is covered 3rd party from his own policy somehow

my mum is on my policy as 2nd driver with a provisional - knocked a few hundred off - she won't even drive tho lol

Just done a couple quotes with my mum as a named driver on mine (currently the other way round) and it basically works out the same as im paying now.

Plus ill be earning NCB

I got my dad on mine, clean driver with full NCB and I think it knocked about £45 off

I put my dad on it lowered it some, then thought would try my mam too which lowered the quote further!

Both have NEVER driven my car and probs never will but it saved me about £90

Mums on mine and that brought it down a whole bundle, although im still first driver getting no claims She hasnt ever had her own insurance policy in her life

With DirectLine, adding anyone puts it up. +£35/year for either parent to be on.

Have done. £200 more, even with my Mum on it.
DirectLine have always given me the lowest quote, and that's with a lower excess.

had my dad on it with my mum but it didn't go down as much as having my mum on her own.

I tried putting my mum and dad on individually and then together and each time it went up. Possibly because I have 0NCB, I dunno. Knocked a few hundred off for my mate though, he's with Direct Line I think.
