Just spotted this (see below for link) on ebay and got me thinking, would you be required to take a test to drive something like this? Surely due to the height, it would be similar to driving a hgv or bus etc.. it looks higher than a van.

Technically it is just an estate/pickup truck which is basically a car? Just it has huuuge wheels on it so may get pulled a few times? No idea tbph

anything undwer 3.5 tonnes is ok for those that passed after 97, pre 97 can drive up to 7.5tonnes

on the road the wheels tyres would be bald in no time, it would have be a second car for off roading unless you put road tyres on there

exactly, hence why bmw x5's and porsche cayennes don't run off road wheels ok maybe that was a shite comparison, seeing as they are useless off road!

used to eat road tyres, 3.5 v8 petrol was amazin fun, but ours was blue with red roll cage n kelly off road tyres

Yes, it's very much more difficult to drive. You can't see things in front of you for a start, not to mention geometry and therefore handling being to cock.
Stopping distance on AT tyres, ability to change direction, ability to judge distance, likelyhood of mechanical failure causing injury, etc.
Yes - more dangerous but your category B is fine assuming it weighs less than 3.5t.
