Courtenay Sport Stage 1*
We carry out a full engine diagnostic test first. Then Exclusive Courtenay Sport software is installed raising the boost levels, whilst optimising the fuel and timing curves. A Rolling Road calibration, set up and testing session follows.

Courtenay Sport Stage 2
First we carry out a full engine diagnostic test. The exhaust is then derestricted with a high flow front pipe removing the pre cat which is not a legal requirement once the car is 1st registered. A performance exhaust is also included for better gas flow whilst providing an improved sound track to drive too! Exclusive Courtenay Sport Stage 2 Software is then installed, finishing with a Rolling Road calibration, set up and testing session.

Courtenay Sport Stage 3
Following a full engine diagnostic test, we concentrate on maximising cooling efficiency of both inlet charge air temperature and water temperature with the fitment of our massive high flow intercooler. This intercooler features air guide blades to maximise the air flow back through to the water radiator. This stops the air that enters the bumper washing out through the easiest route, i.e. around past the fog lamps and away, thus utilising all the air that enters the bumper. A Performance exhaust system is fitted featuring a high flow front pipe, 70mm cat section with a 100 cpi motorsport catalyst and a 70mm cat back exhaust system. Finally the Exclusive Courtenay Sport Stage 3 Software is installed, finishing with a Rolling Road calibration, set up and testing session. Power and Torque Graph Print Outs.

£2400, thats not that bad when you think a complete exhaust system with sports cat is going to be about 1k of that, then you have intercooler, then mapping time which will be 450+vat at most places.

good results

Suppose...........................id be hopping for more for that kind of spend.

Is the 1.6 VXR fairly limited tuning wise then........no chance of any 300bhp+ ones popping out the woodwork any time soon???

Would you rather not have spent 2.4K ontop of the purchase price and got another car?. Not having a pop but 2.4K is expensive for only a 50 ish bhp gain.

i guess so but it's not fair comparing a 2.0 16v n/a with a 1.6 16v turbo. on the standard turbo it is good power, but would rather pay the extra and uprate the turbo.

between 4,5k and 7k the car has now more then 230bhp

Why is everyone concerned about a peak number?
In a turbo FWD it is nice to have a flat and usable power curve then a stupid peak number at 4,5k just for show at the pub

So it is not only a 40bhp increase, go to Courtenay's site and compare the power curve with the original car...

Nice one! I think thats quite good value TBH. A 1.6 producing that much power reliably on a standard Turbo

Just think a full Throttle Body kit from QED or SBD is over 2k! And you don't really gain much power for your £££.

As pointed out, the Torque/Power throughout the rev range is now massively improved, its not just about the Peak figures.
