looking to get one of these myself next year but the 130 or 150 version and get it remapped to nearly 200 bhp and mpg wise you should get around 45-50mph depending on how you drive.
nice cars
well built
strong engines
easy to modify
look cool (3doors tho)
good mpg
fast
what more could you want

pretty rapid. Lots of bottom end torque.
Get a sealed induction kit, exhaust, sports cat then a map then it will be a little rocket

i have got a golf gt tdi 115bhp they are nice cars go ok for 115bhp diesel
i get between 33- 40 MPG around town driving
and get 49-55 MPG on the motorway in 6th gear
but i would think the high BHP model may do a bit less?

Her last Golf 1.9 TDi was only about 2.5 years old and had over 60k on the clock!! she has to get rid before she starts paying for every mile she goes over 75k miles!! (something to do with the warranty and HP on it)

You dont get a 4WD diesel Golf
Ive got the 130 tdi, I bought it because im doing around 20-25k a year now & needed the mpg. Its still fast, passes most things on the motorway (which is where I do 90% of my driving) & I get between 42 & 56mpg depending on my driving style.
As for tuning a guy on my local VAG forum has just has his dyno'd at 220bhp & 320ftlb............after fitting a few parts & a mapping session.

Tad dear for what they are, most of them seem to have mega miles on them and tbh I think they look a bit boring
on the flip side though the VAG TDi engines are fantastic, it will be well made comfy and economical

i don't do any motorway driving at all and still want one for the power and mpg
should feel quick with me almost driving a 1.2 8v corsa for almost 2 years and i get frustrated by the lack of power.
love the car but want something thats gonna be good on fuel and quick.

get a petrol then
Dervs arnt that economical unless your doing many miles, round town and nipping to my mates house and stuff my punto is worse on fuel than my Saxo VTR was
once you get to 85 on the motorway though its well worth it then

thats what im saying, you will be paying a premium buying the car as deisels sell for around £500 more than petrols?
and the fuel is more expensive to buy
and your not driving far enough to feel the benifits, if you can hear that turbo whistling its costing you money
Id get a 1.6 - 2.0 petrol

Yep Im of the same opinion your be better with a petrol if doing small miles.
Diesels can be fast, good on the mpg but I prefer driving a petrol car.
Im switching as soon as possible.
