Looking to sell my car for about 9k, just wondering what's the normal payment handover process for such a large amount. Bankers draft or something? Cheers.

Depending on how you're selling it, maybe ask for a deposit over PayPal. Most people say 100/150. Cash on collection I would say as well.

Would always deal in cash. Bankers drafts are an arse because when you phone up the bank to validate them, the bank typicly cocks around on the phone as you are inevitably speaking to some 16 year old school drop out.

Cheers for the responses - I'm just quite surprised people would feel comfortable to have 9k cash on them.

It's a lot of cash, but all you're going to do is count it and take it to the bank and pay it in...

That's true, but as Danny said, job's a good'un once it's handed over. I'd just go straight to the bank afterwards, unless you want to buy another car with the money.

when my partner sold his car, he took payment in cash, but did the deal in a public place for safety(local wetherspoons) and asked the manager to check the money quickly on cash counter. Wetherspoons was right next to bank too to pay money in...

Me and my mum went to the chap's house after tea and gave him £900 in 20's then I drove it home £9k is a bit different, though You'd definitely want to be safer with that much.
