what one should i go for.
2.0 seh engine.
let engine.
xe engine.
whats the xe/let engine like as ive never delt with one.

Depends on a few factors mate...
How much do you have to spend? It seems people with LET's usually spend a small fortune keeping them running. You'll be able to pick up an XE, and get it rebuilt for about the same price as a shagged LET too. Are you after quick, or extremely quick?
I personally would start out with the XE, and if you want more, then get a LET, that way the engine bay is ready for the new engine anyway

as long as its quicker then a 1200 im not really fussed i was going for the 8v route but things changed with my 1600 lump.its not happing till december so i want to find one and get it rebuilt.what sort of price are they going for?

go for a 1.0 12v or v6

mine was a 1.2 8 valve...... for road tax purposes i opted for the 1.6 16 valve it was a straight fit with loom ecu etc etc..... but I spent a fortune rebuilding it
