Does anybody have a concrete answer for this and not just something you've read on a forum?

I've had a look both on here and elsewhere but airbags aren't on the prohibited list of anywhere I look at.

They talk about explosives etc but although an airbag comes out with what could be called explosive force it's just gas escaping really quickly, not an explosion.

An explosion is generally categorised as a rapid movement of gases from an area, so I'd say no, you can't post it.

Just post it anyway, what's the worst that could happen? Some halfwit Polish immigrant loses an arm whilst opening your mail. Big whoop.

Can imagine it in the post office. They pick it up and throw it down, and it flys straight back at them

But as it is a sort of explosive charge, I doubt you will be able to post it.

I'm not stupid enough to post one btw but I would still like an answer.

An explosion is a sudden increase in volume and release of energy in a violent manner, usually with the generation of high temperatures and the release of gases.

A bag inflating is not an explosion.

I think it maybe possable if it is packed well enough and securely. Also if its labelled up correctly e.g fragile. Could try a courier like tnt or dhl

In the case of an air bag it most definately is.

When I worked for RM, airbags were NOT allowed to be sent. Same applies to aerosols and other gas canisters, as there is a risk of explosion.

TBH, if you're only sending it locally, you could probably get away with it as it wouldn't be scanned or checked.

An airbag is classed as an explosive device, said that on the back of my old Audi ones anyway.
