So what if it is still registered as a 1.6 sport.
The tax is the same as if it were a 2.0
It doesnt stop you from insuring it as a 2.0 either.

Maybe not, but its not that hard to insure a car properly, would be a different story if he crashed into someone.

Not really, These days you need to be unlucky for them to come out and check your car and notice the engine is different.
Even then if they realise they just charge you the extra.
Then again..There are worse things in the world to moan about other than someone else's buisness.

Yeah no doubt if you crashed and the insurance found un-declared items they would try and get out of paying up.
The funny thing is tho everytime ive phoned up to add mods to my XE Corsa the premium didnt even go up
It's just the slagging people for not registering the engine change that gets me when you've got no proof its not insured legit.

Still, no excuse not to register it as a 2.0.

How though?
Wont make a difference if its registered as 2L or 1.6, Its the insurance that matters.

it needs to be registered so you can tax it legally.

As long as your paying the correct ammount for the engine and tax band then there isnt a problem.
I know this from when i changed the engine on my megane Coupe, Straight from the DVLA.

Most likely but its getting silly now with the ammount of people who jump on people because they want a faster car for cheaper.

I just dont see the point of not registering it properly and legally, if its because he can't afford to pay the extra insurance then maybe he shouldn't have an XE?I just dont see why honest people have to pay every penny and some don't bother and get away with it, not having a go at the lad as its his car he can do what he want's.

Nope wrong, i wouldn't risk it even if i know i could get away with it, i'd rather be fully legal and not have to worry about anything.
