been having a few problems with my workplace, apart from the fact im forced to work in a workshop where people still smoke, the fact my boss refuses to supply overalls and expects overtime to be worked at normal rate today when i handed my notice in he simply replied ' thank fuck for that saves me sacking you' then frogmarched out his office, got one of the other blokes to check my toolbox incase id stole any tools and escorted me out the yard - now im sure i cant be sacked for simply handing in my notice ??

ive also had a few incidents of being shouted at/given a dressing down in the workshop infront of other staff (when he's been in the wrong not me)

the guy is very victiroian in how he runs his business and has made millions from ripping of customers and staff

working overtime for standard rate is your own fault

I know it's a hard situation to be in as I was in it when I was younger, but you just gotta say no, your not doing it.

As for the rest of it he sounds like a proper cock

Call your nearest health and safety executive and have a spot check done on the smoking thing

he'll get shafted

health and safety at work act states that all PPE should be supplied by the employer, thats the law so he can get fucked for that, smoking he can get done for, overtime isnt a law so nothing you can do there

what kind of work are you in?
