Silver's probably the hardest colour to get a deep shine from. Doesn't really work

For silver I would suggest ClearKote Vanilla Moose Glaze, gives a really glossy/wet finish which you don't often get on silver. Finish it off with Collinite for durability.

Get yourself a Meguirs clay bar kit. It will have wax, detailer and clay and will make it smooth as glass.
Although out of the cars ive used it on it was the least noticable on silver, just too hard to get a shine from silver lol

Wash, clay, polish, wax in that order.
That was some generic shampoo, meguiars quick clay, meguiars gold class polish then meguiars nxt tech wax.
I would only bother claying if the paint needs it though, if it's already clean and free of wee stuck on bits its probably a waste of time.

As John says only clay if paint is tarred or rough to touch.
As I said above Clearkote products are fantastic for silver.
