Has anyone had one done to their car, or have had any experience with them?
Doing some research at looking into the pros and cons of having one fitted, prices etc. Contemplating getting one though with all the lovely fuel price increases.

Mate has one in his V6 Vectra. Cost £1800 and it costs less than half the money of petrol to run. Still sounds and goes the same.

My mate has a 100l tank in the back of his old yank tank. It helps when your only getting 7mpg from a 7 litre v8 or something like that.

Just done an online quote here: http://www.greenfuel.org.uk/
They quoted £1880 to convert my 2003 1.2 16v Corsa C, but they also show you the savings based on your average milage

Just spoke to a local place that does conversions and they quoted me £1400 for my Corsa...
-The system can be swapped from one car to another (costs around £750 all together)
-Invectors can be changed/adjusted (depending on manufacturer) to suit different engines (ie engine conversions/new car)
-Filler cap MUST be mounted externally
-A 43L tank will fit in the spare wheel well (the carpet will be raised by about 15-20mm)

If your getting it done you will need a specialist to do it as insurance need a certificate from approved fitters.
They need serviced at least once a year and most , if not all, company will only service the one's the fitted.
Our last Range Rover had a multi point PRIS one fitted and was well worth it.
Waste of money doing it to a corsa or the likes. 3.0 engines upwards would only be the ones i'd consider.
And if your not keeping it for another good while you wont see any savings.

Depends on milage to be fair mate. Last year my corsa covered 30k so having the fuel at half the price would have saved a lot

But on such a small car with such a small engine its not really worth paying the 2k for it. Powerloss etc in a 1.2 would be unbearable , and anyone who says you dont loose power is lying. The extra weight of the tank etc.
Our Range Rover was a 4.6 V8 Vogue and it was only worth it because it was getting 15mpg.

my brother has his L200 V6 Petrol on LPG, Saves alot of money especially as his work buy it in bulk so buy it for about 20 less than u get it in a petrol station.
Personally i think you would need a large engined car and doing a fare few miles a year to see any money back on it.

but in terms of running costs, it would cost 1.4k to have converted...in my case this would be recovered within 12 months in fuel costs so would be worth while IMO
Does this conversion increase insurence premiums (if carried out by a certified fitter etc)

If you get it converted for £1400 and have no major problems, I'll give you my house and car.

£1800 is the lowest price you'll get for a decent LPG system with a 90 LTR tank. Upwards and on wards for auto switch, manual switch and other extras.
Bearing in mind the price hardly varies for the engine size, So because its 1400, Dont think its because its a smaller engine. Its probably because its a cheap kit, no warranty or simply because its shite.
Even if it was 700, I wouldnt bother converting a Corsa or anything under a 3 litre car.

You should consider whats going to happen with regards the tax on green fuels over the next 2 to 3 years!
And personally i would sell up and buy a vauxhall duel fuel you'll have less problems .
~And as said you do notice the difference in power i wouldnt entertain anything under a 1600 on gas

Green fuels will cost nowhere near what petrol costs, It'll always be cheaper than petrol so it will still be worth it on bigger cars.

It will be cheaper i agree but the opinion is in the near future the difference between the two will decrease.
Your strong opinions suggest your either in the trade or own an lpg vehicle. If your in the trade i would have thought you would be more upto date with figures relating to "greener fuels", or you just own one and are blinkered!

Used to have one if you read the actual thread.
