From my 306 d-turbo.
Not doing many miles nowadays, and id love another petrol car, never had much experience with one, my 1.2 corsa was the only one
Budget about £2k max, insurance is an issue, so maybe 1.4 16v corsas, etc?

Going back to a slow petrol car like a 1.4 sport will feel terrible.
I went from a mapped fabia to a 172, which is technically faster, doesn't feel as fast though.
You're going from slow to equally as slow but using more fuel, bit of a waste of time imo.

Considering you can legally do 70 anyway, what's the problem?
Old slow diesel to slow petrol car. You're still not going to keep up with that Astra.
I bet you're one of those young drivers who complains that insurance companies have it in for them despite having had at least 1 accident and turning the public highway into Castle Combe like most other young drivers.

its nice to try your luck every now and then but "it wont keep with my mates astra to 90 " isnt my kind of excuse to get rid of a car

I went back to a petrol car. I spend more on fuel. Go figure.
edit: Miss the torque, too.

306 dturbo to a 1.4 corsa
I know which id rather.
Just spend some money tuning it and maybe a service if its running sluggish.

I love it when people miss gears and you hear the crunch lol.
I'll race every now and then as long as its not busy, not built up , no-one else can get hurt other than me and the other driver and as long as there isnt police.
