laptop is running slow, been told its worth downloading some free software such as a registry cleaner and some spyware detection stuff?

ad-aware by lavesoft (sp) is a real good adware and spyware program i belive.

go to download.com and look for ad-aware,ccleaner,bitdefender,nod32..theres quite a few free trials out there.

Get ad-aware and AVG Free.

Ad-aware looks for advertisment programs etc (malware) and AVG Free is a free virus scanner that is very good!

adaware wont download for some reason so I have downloaded google spyware doctor.

so far found 4 trojan thingamybobs.

Back up you bitsand bobs on CD, Then format with original Windows disk you got with laptop.

have had to do this a few times on my pc, always works!

Dave, flip the laptop over and read off the Operating system sticker, the exact name (not the product key).
