Looking to see what people would prefer out the 2 engines

1, Xe engine with full s/s exhaust and filter
2, Gsi engine, 4 branch Manifold, full s/s system, mantzel, filter

XE engine FTW imo they have better power than a 1.6 so there is no point on going to a lower engine when you could afford an XE

20 is more powerful. I only kept the 16 because I couldn't insure the 20.

Not to be taken a gospel

If your getting a car that already has that engine in, then your already saving.

For mine i've spent....

£180 exhaust mani
£160 Back box
£60 scilencer for middle
Decat SS exhaust from Monsters car.
£240 for mantzel
£40 K&N pannel filter.

It made 125.2 bhp but it really needs mapping to get the most out of everything. I'm going to be doing that when i have fitted some cams.

Tempted to sell engine tho and put a XE or maybe a LET in it at a later date

If you can afford to insure a bigger engine, don't go and buy a little one

The fact it ran a 17.9 1/4 which is probably a bit slower than a standard Sport 1.6 kind of says it all Lee I've been in it with Paul when it did that time and it's a rattly bugger

Prices sound spot on, in bits.
You'll never get the value in one go though.

Tbh for £800 you can't really argue though. If it is a bucket, then selling the GSi kit, the V6 brakes, suspension, Mantzel, manifold etc will probably get you more than what you paid Or just strip and XE it like you said

depends if you like your car to handle reasonably well, go for the XE for power and torque, but if you still want some handling go for the 16XE
