Have seen a place online that offers you the 10 week course for £5600:
http://www.viyplumbingtraining.co.uk/?gclid=CLC7oIb3lpMCFQthMAod0iV_Yw
What wage/salary could I expect to go out and earn as a plumber? Just trying to decide whether to get into plumbing or electrics.
Thanks

You'll need to find somebody to pay you pennies after that as an apprentice, you can't just do the 10 week course then go and be a plumber.

There is still good money to be had in the UK, My cousin is bringing in 4k a month working as a contractor.
You are right though, Abroad is best. The money electricians make in Australlia in insane, 7k a month etc.

what does your cousin do service machines? test equipment etc?
so many factorys up here have shut up shop as countrys abroad can produce quicker better equipment
the only reason we are still going is we are supported by the mod in weapons and radar projects

Wires Nightclubs, Pubs, Cinema's etc.
Cos there arent as much Sparks in the UK now they are sought after, Simply because people make as much money from easier time consuming jobs.

I'm training to be a plumber at the moment and is harder to qualify than many people think.
Obviously, the cash comes down to how good you are (obviously) and what qualifications you have. There are different levels you can do, i'm on level 2 I could stop there and earn alright money or go up a level and earn better money.
Also depends if you want to work with things like lead or copper or steel.
Money is decent though

How long have you been doing it for? Did you just call round local plumbing firms for a job?
Thing is I'm wondering how much of a paycut I'd have to take, I'm 24k atm but thinking I would eventually work for myself if I was to go down the plumbing route

You wont get half of your wage just now when you join a firm, Wether you have done the course or not.
I think you need to realise your not going to do this course and jump into a job earning lots of money, Not even decent money for that matter.

I'm 18, doing it at college. My Dad does it too on a nightcourse, possibly worth looking into that?
I'd also suggest making friends with people in the trade, makes life much easier.

Bearing in mind you'd have to pay the £5,600 for the course aswell.
There is a reason plumbers are apprentices for 4 years.
My sisters boyfriend has just finished his apprenticeship and is on mega money now for a Housing Company but he worked like fuck for 4 years and in turn had to live on shit wages.

Never heard that you had to be one for 4 years..Not saying it isn't true because I wouldn't know as i'm not an apprentice till summertime, but i've never heard it had to be that long..If you have the time and money then go for it..But as said before, i'd look into doing a night course if you are really serious about it.

Sorry, I could have worded it better.
Plumbers are apprentices for 4 years for the full qualification depending on what company you work for.
This can vary but this is the same for a few people i know who were/are apprentices.
