hmm perhaps you've just twisted / pulled muscle or fractured a bone in the middle part of your foot?
your foot has like 5 different main sections of bone running across it (irrc) and muscles joining them all together and offering support.
I've both cracked / broken one of these before (so when i wiggled my toe u could feel it popping one way and the other, and making a cracking / clicking noise)
I've also twisted and snapped the muscles in this area of foot.
Both were pretty painful and hard to walk on. Just get some crutches and hobble around for a while, take some pain killers and in a few weeks it'll be ok again.

If get that quite a lot, I find it eases it if I stand on the edge of a stair or similar.

i have this at the moment, and is the remaining symptom of a compressed/trapped sciatic nerve that i somehow fucked up over the easter weekend.
woke up with no feeling in my leg, could barely move it, but certainly couldn't use it.
was walking after about 4 days, but it's still not right now.
I had most of the symptoms of Sciatica, but they have all cleared apart from this pain in my foot.
sometimes it's so bad that i can't sleep.
docs have given me diazapam, codeine, and something like dyptryptilene (?)
sometimes the pain is in the arch, and sometimes it's across the toes. it kind of feels like the foot is badly sunburnt occasionally.
if this sounds similar, i'd suggest you buy some co-codamol (over the counter) and it should pass in a few weeks.
