wots the difference between that and the x16xe

not looking for summit thats gonna pull my face off,i only do short journeys so dont need a fast car but would like it to be nippy,iv put up with my 1.2 8v for nearly 2 years.

i can get bthe 1.8 done but its an extra £500 and the tax will be alot more than the 1.6 i think

From been a 1.2 8v owner and getting a gsi I can say there is a massive difference and its enough to have a bit of fun with even though it isnt the fastest thing on the road.

If you buy a good one in the first place they are nice and relible so just make sure you get one you know is good to avoid hassle

yeah it would be a good healthy low milage one if i get the conversion.

my 1.2 8v is not the best on fuel,i get 130miles out of £20 but thats run down till the petrol light is on.

i just got a 1.6 sport and after having a 1.4 sport its much better, fuels roughly the same if not better plus you have a little power aswell. nothing spectacular, mine just had an engine rebuild so i cant comment on maintinance, *touch wood*

I wouldn't. Most C16's have higher mileage than X16's. Most have been screwed.

Hardly any difference between them.

I bought mine with 40k and thrashed it till i sold the car with 90k on, never had any problems other than the cam belt tenshioners.

Only thing i didnt like was it dosnt like to be reved that much ofr a 16v engine, sort of gives up about 1k before the red line, think a differnet inlet can sort this

I've had 3 X16XE's and one C16XE. They're GOOD engines, nice and strong. Just make sure you do a regular oil & filter change and keep upto date with everything else

Don't like them myself

Dodggy inlet, no room (pig to work on), EGR problems, noisey followers, weak tensioners

True.

X16XE + C16XE head = C16XE without the AFM
