MK4 Golf GTI 1.8t, 3dr, 80k or something, 3 door model from 2000/w reg - in dark blue.
Its fantastic and in great condition bar one minor problem. The shell is twisted and has creases in it where its probably had a shunt in the past. My dad bought the car for my mum but only found out later on as the problem isnt visible to the untrained eye. Apparently the previous owner had it for two years without knowing. It is however HPI clear and the log book is clean.
Not sure what to do with it really. What do people reckon? Sell for parts? Try and trade it in to an unsuspecting garage? lol. Or sell it with the problem listed? How much do people reckon its worth then though? Ive no idea.

Its probably worth about 1500-2000 if its got shell/chassis damage.

Id be more than happy with that! How do you think the best way would be to go about making that though? Sell it someone else with the problem listed? Its got to be worth alot in bits. Its a great car apart from the shell

Does it drive ok?
Just stick it on ebay or something.
I would buy it for 1500 just to potter about in for a year if it drove straight - run it into the ground then strip it make the money back on parts.
How much did your old man pay for it?

It drives fine, you wouldnt notice it on a test drive. We only found out cos my brother followed my dad up to a garage when it was serviced or something to give him a lift back, and noticed its crabbing. It makes the inside of the o/s rear tyre wear excessively aswell.
He paid about 3.5 I think. Was cheap for a GTI anyway.

Would have thought the prev owner would have been made aware of this at some point tbh.....something there doesnt add up.
Not sure whats best to do honest thing would be to stick it on ebay informing of the damage hopefully claw some cash back. Or trade it in, act a bit dim if theres any comeback - bought for the wife she never liked driving it sold it straight away - bent what are you on about?
Think id edge towards the latter, every man for themselves & all that

£3.5 is a fair bit for a 2000W 1.8t, according to parkers anyway.

in a private sale its down to the buyer to do there checks a seller does not have to tell you if its been crashed,no chance of getting any money back

Please do not sell it trying to cover it up. Imagine what it would be like if you bought the car, thinking you had a bargin and you find out its crabbing down the motorway.
First thing to do would be to try and get it jig'd. Failing that, sell it in bits IMO. Could get £700 for the engine and box?

Probably a bit less than 700 imo as it has the smaller turbo, unless it has a 6 speed box? If so and its in good condition the box is worth about 300 alone.
