Was in the mood when I woke up to start my PVS preparations to try and get my Corsa looking black again. Didn't really wanna clean it but wanted to start polishing it so just cleaned it over quick and just give it a quick wipe over with one of those hydra blade things cos I hate using chamois' or drying towels, then I got my finest SRP out, got my roof, spoiler, bootlid and rear quarter done then it started spitting So I buffed it all off then thought I'd have a quick look at the difference between what I'd polished and what I hadn't.

They look the same So I've spent probably an hour or so trying to get my car looking black again and all it's done is completely kill my motivation and made the shit paintwork stand out more because there's no dirt hiding it

I don't know how most of you keep your cars so clean, I can never see the point cos after a few hours work, it's all spoilt within a few days

Yeah, I'll agree there. There have been times when I've washed it like twice in around a month and it was easier than usual but bear in mind, the last time I polished mine was the day before PVS last year.

I just can't see any point in cleaning it through the winter months, that really is just a waste of time cos it doesn't usually last till the next day.

I'm just wound up cos I was hoping to give it a good few polishes over the next month or so to get it looking black again, I've used what many people say is a very good polish and it's made no difference what so ever

I'm not being funny but I don't think I got a single chance to wash it over the last winter and if I did get chance, I can't see the point in going out when it's freezing, washing my car for it to start lashing it down before I've finished and I'm back to square 1 again.

Matt, how do you clean your car in 20 mins? It takes me at least half an hour to chamois it off, and that's when I get bored half way through and do an half arsed job of it

Ive had plenty of practice

dark cars are harder to chamois, my chamois is shit hot too, its an auto glym one, had it since the day I bought my blue B

Im quicker at polishing and waxing too cause I dont have to do the roof

nahh chamois is only to dry it off so there are no water marks on it, once it rains its poinless you doing it,

washing cars is a thankless task but for those few hours after doing it when you look at your car and think, thats mint, its sort of worth it

I don't see a dirty car as a problem tbh, I just get used to seeing mine dirty, I actually think it looks strange when it's clean but I just wanna try and get the paintwork looking alright again for PVS

As for mopping Matt, as you know money's shit atm so I'm just using what I've got, I'd heard SRP was one of the best things for swirls and we had some in the garage, I just don't know if I'm shit at using it or what but it just doesn't seem to work

black looks awesome when its shiny though ...just 90% of the time it looks dirty

i just washed, claybarred, washed, foamed, chammoised, SRP'd mine, now its spitting so i gave up lol.

may wax it tomorrow, depending how dirty the rain makes it.

SRP is great, apply a couple of layers though if you haven't used it in ages.

We'll see, if I can get my motivation back it'll hopefully be getting quite a few layers of SRP. I've got a unit to do it in now so I'll have to try a few early starts on Saturdays and just go up there and give it another layer, maybe stay on some nights when I've finished working up there if I'm not too knackered.

Might even leave my car up there for the last week or so, spend as much time on it as possible, I don't want it getting shown up on the stand again, it was next to Big Gev last year and it looked grey in comparison
