Going on a lads holiday in July. Spoke to 2 of my mates who are coming and they ahve been goign to the gym 2-3 times a week for the last 2 months to get buff for the holiday!
Now I'm not that well built, so am thinking whther I should partake in this!?
I'm really busy and fitting the gym in will leave me with less time. I'm thinking fcuk it and the only prep I need is alcohol related!
Anyone else doing the gym preparing for holiday?

You'll damage your body tom if you do to much. If your trying to loose weight, do fast walks rather than running.
Remember don't try and do all your body every day you go, that way you will build quicker i.e Legs and back day 1, Cardio and Chest/Arms Day 2 so you leave time for the muscles to repair
And EAT ENOUGH !!

I've got 4 weeks til my holiday if I start now I reckon I will have a great beach body

Whats the point of going to the gym now? If you were that bothered about beach bodies then you would attend the gym on a regular basis and not a few weeks before a holiday in the hope it will make any difference.

I will be keeping it up after holiday as well andy. It has always bothered me but recent events have made me want to do it now. I'm not just doing it to get a beach body. If i don't achieve it before i go then i won't be bothered as i know its not something thats going to happen in a few weeks.
Its a long term thing, not short.

Personally, have upped my cardio level and been eating much healthier for the last 2 months or so. Leaves only weights now for me to start dabbling with. Not really wanting to do weights but feel I will have to now.
Also feel that my body is more used to regular excercise rather than rushing into it months ago.

Correct
It just amuses me how people seem to think they will walk into the gym, workout, and expect to leave looking like some sort of male model

Well some people obviously do
I can't really see 4-8 weeks at the gym giving people a 'beach bod'.
Hell if it was that easy I wouldn't bother going 50 weeks of the year

3 times a week weights and cardio in between with a decent diet. You wouldn't see any change in size in 5 months?

No because he isnt well built to start with and he doesnt seem enthusiastic about going "I'm thinking fcuk it and the only prep I need is alcohol related!"
He may well tone up a bit \ loose a bit weight but he wont put on any bulk or look like he weight trains in 5 months.
TBH he'll prob go for a month, then quit like most people.

I doubt even with a decent diet and training plan, in 5month you woould see much difference and definately will not have a 'beach bod'. Hell, like andy said if it was that easy i wouldnt be going 5 times a week for the past 3 years

To be honest i disagree with most in some senses, get going , have a crack, you will see the benefits of exercise and maybe get the bug, which to me can only be a good thing. yOU ARN'T GOING TO CHANGE DRASTICALLY BUT YOU WILL SEE SOME CHANGES, probbaly depending on your body type, i have a naturally low body fat and a slim build so soon see benefits.

I have been hitting the gym for 4 days a week for the last month...been supplementing my diet (which isnt perfect) with protein...
I have noticed a slight difference...but if anything my posture has improved...

In fact I have actually put on 2 pounds...but look slimmer around my waist area (I'm not a fat bastard anyway)...
Im 6ft 1 and 13.5 ish stone...I would say I was a slim/athletic build...my legs being my strongest (due to playing loads of football through the years)...
