got tonsilitis symptoms again, I had it about 6 weeks ago iirc but both that time and now I've been more feverish and achey than when i've had it in the past. I just went to docs and she said it's tonsilitis but i'm not so sure so asked her if I could have a blood test to make sure it aint glandular fever, which i'm having on friday. Has anyone else ever had it, if so how long did it take to get rid of don't wana be missing out on bank holiday frolics but she's prescribed me with penicilian

I get tonsilitis alot (not to the extreme some people suffer with it) but it's never normally this feverish the doc said if it's not glandular fever and I get it again soon then can ask to have them out, although doesn't this just make you open to other throat infections etc

i was signed off work for 6 weeks (two years ago almost to the week!) and told to "avoid strenuous activity" so was stuck in the house although did go out to get some "fresh air" via my fuck buddy's!!
that activity didnt seem to do any harm!

Sorry to hear that Tom, it's not nice when you can't even swallow water. I had a bad throat infection once and could barely breath. Never had Tonsilitis though must be crap when it keeps returning. Do you have private medical care?, insist them to be removed for repeat symptoms?.

I had tonsilitis last year during Cricket WC ( only thing that cheered me up lol thats how I remember ). Ive got to be honest, it was the worst Ive ever felt in my entire life. Thought I was going to die or something..
Couldnt eat, drink, sleep, felt really lethargic, rested on sofa all day and night, felt too ill to talk or be around anyone.. Wasnt a good time for me you could suggest.
Hope youre better soon anyway mate.

Sounds just like what I had the other year, which was glandular fever. Tonsilitis and no energy on and off. But at its worst every 6 weeks Docs told me atleast 3 times that it wasn't glandular fever, but when I got the blood test it came back and said it was.
Look forward to a good few uncomfortable months off work

Oh no
I am glad i've asked for the blood test anyway, can't do any harm and i'll at least know by next friday if I have it or not!
I have never not been able to swallow due to it but have had it pretty bad where it's been umcofortable 24/7 It's not that bad pain wise this time, it's just an inconvenience tbh.
Complex maze, what will the symptoms be if it does turn out to be glandular fever (e.g. will it feel like constant tonsilitis every day for 2 months ) and will I have to be indoors all the time etc
Not too bad as work from home so can always work at 50% if have to.

I used to get tonsilitis quite a lot when I was at school.
Used to be off for about a week, couldn't eat, couldn't drink, fainted a lot
Every time I got it they said they would take them out the next time, but never did
Haven't had it for years now
Think it must have been a kissing thing

It was pretty much how Iian described it, but coming back every 6 weeks. For me it got less and less each time it came back, so would have a month of feeeling ok, then have a shitty week after that, then it dies away again. Took about a year before I felt compleatly my self again.
Having said that, my flatmate had glandular fever as well (no I did not get it from him) and his only lasted 3 days
Hope its not too bad.
