the dip at 4000 rpm is down to cam timing, a bit more mapping will iron it out a bit but its not noticable on the road.

Looks good Dave, that the same kinda power as you had before the rebuild though isn't it?
I guess the delivery is much better etc, just expected the peak figures to be in the 200's tbh.
Nice power and torque figures from an N/A 1.6 though!!

I'm gonna be honest, I'm a little underwhelmed by the power/torque figures
Can you not continue to map higher? Or have you decided that the BHP gain isn't worth the reduction in engine life/reliability?

it will rev and make power to 8900 rpm. makes 208 bhp up there but the torque was dropping off so didnt bother. as it is (apart from the dip at 4000 rpm) it is a nice drivable engine with power everywhere in the revs and pulls hard everywhere. Its not all about peak bhp, its more about what happens between 0rpm and peak. If you go chasing bhp figures whilst mapping you can quickly forget that you spend virtually no time at all at 8600 rpm in the real world.
also, 164 bhp @ the wheels is going to be fun

it wasnt a cam timing issue as first thought, it was a mistake in the fuel map. now pulls hard from 2700-8600 with no dips or flatspots.

oh my. I bet this will be awesome on a track.
Any idea of the power to weight ratio considering the car is fully stripped with perspex etc?
