A cross between a west highland white terrier and a chiwowwa (sp )??

What would be its 'official' name so I could find some pictures?

tbh mate I don't think there is a specific name for them, I have seen a few for sale and they are always just described as highland terrier chihuahua cross.

I was thinking about the other day, in the same terms as a labrador/poodle = labradoodle and nothing works

i think if you want a rescue animal they vett you quite heavily, and you have to go through loads of checks before they will approve you.

My mum has 2 dogs from an RSPCA resuce centre. Same as getting any dog IMO.
Cost wise I think it was £45 each which was to have them snipped and chipped but that was quite a few years ago

Well what Im thinking is they will have had all their health checks done, injections and what not? We havent had a dog before so instead of owning one from a puppy and possibly giving it a bad upbringing (not deliberatly) we thought it best to get a grown up dog so we know how to handle it etc?

I know where your coming from, but, as they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, so if it does have issues(very possible if previously mis-treated etc) they will be a lot harder to irradicate.

A year or so ago, my missus family got a lurcher that was around 6 yrs old. It was going to get put down without a new owner after the owner died. The dog's really well behaved, loves the attention, well trained and basically spot on.

So you'd be saving a dog from being put down / kennels for its life, and like you say, could potentially be getting a well trained dog which saves you the puppy stages, with chewing, weeing and so on.

Going to a cat and dog shelter is a good way to do it imo.

This is what we talked about Richie, not only making us happy but stopping some poor mutt being put down for something that probably isnt his fault, dickhead owners that mistreat them

They will more than likely do a home visit

I had one and had to put a fence up before they allowed her home, she still jumped the bugger
