any sign of gearbox and clutch problems which i think are the 2 main weak points on these so just check biting point is ok, notchy gear change, clutch slipping etc.

also they are rev happy engines so check for white gunk in the oil.

theres alot of 106 gti/saxo vts owners on here so expect more info

i paid 2700 for mine with 62k, complete history on it. I thought that was a good price.
Check the driveshafts by putting it on full lock and slowly move forward, you will ere the joints clicking if they are nackered or the cj joints have split and lost there packing grease

Cracks in the B pillar
Bubbling around the windscreen seal
Corroded chassis legs/rails
Damaged crossmembers
Side exit exhausts by the front wheel
Poorly fitted Combat kits
Headlight eyebrows
Lexus lights
LED washer jets
Noisy cam chain
Rust in corners of boot under carpet

Should cover it

the problems with the rear axle's are the trailing arms, if the bearings are fuked, i.e the wheels are sitting it, then your best off getting a new axle, check for creaking noises in the torsion bars as well

Also check how it idles, and if it pulls strong throughout the rev range, which it should do, you should feel a bit more pull at 5k as well

Engines are pretty strong, check for play in engine and gearbox mounts and check oil cap for signs of creamy slushy liquid, which is a sign of the headgasket going or gone

If it is clunking or making a noise from the CV joing you will have to replace the whole driveshaft as you cant buy the CV joints seperate on these

Overall very nice cars, check for crash damage and id advise to a hpi check before you go and view it
