what do you need to be one?
how fit?
good pay?

not that good pay afaik

you need to be mentally fit as well as physically fit.

very tough to get through the training and it will take a toll on your life if you are not ready.

Pays pretty bad from what I've heard. Some departments are part time too.

have a plan B. My mate stu spent 2 years trying to get in, then couldnt get a job because of multi-culturism even though he passed his tests/physicals.

Now he's stuck working at halfords full time trying to set up a car audio workshop with big loans

yeh my mate stu was going to tart on something like 22k and after a year goes to 28k

a couple of my mates are PCSOs. a good way to get into the police tbh.
circa £20k

fireservice is uber difficult but not impossible - a mate of mine is 20 and is close to being accepted - he has been preparing for over a year. you can only re-apply every 6 months, lots of time spent in the gym keeping fit tho, and you'll need a job whilst going thru the application process as it can take months and months
£25k - well over £30k as you move up tho.

Yup, i looked into it here.

They need someone that has a HGV licence though. Also, some of the heights of the ladders they go up during trainning

I applied but was turned down due to an accident 4 years ago.

Brother was turned down because of the Written Test.

Very hard to get into but imho would be very rewarding.
