Right, i have a mk4 2.0 16v Astra SRi, it's always been pretty good on petrol, didnt notice too much of a difference going from my 1.6 16v Astra sport, 2 weeks ago started using the expensive 97 unleaded petrol, and putting RedX through my engine to clean the injectors, have done this with 2 tanks of petrol and it's started absolutely drinking the stuff! Used tank and a half in 8 days, when in that time I'd normally only use say 3/4 of a tank. Going to go back to normal unleaded to see if it rectifies it, but should the better, expensive petrol really be worse on fuel economy? Or will the RedX be having an effect? Or is my car mearly breaking?

i know that you get less petrol for your money, but a full tank is a full tank no matter how much it costs to fill it just seems weird coincidence that its using more sinceiv been using the 97 ron and redx. not been driving any differently, dont really rag this car around

So, does anyone know what could be causing it, apart from her heavy right foot?

depends what we need to do, but usually if we spend 30 mins on it with full diagnostics it would be £20
