from memory, theyre about 30bhp short (could be wrong on that) but 8v's do have more torque...150bhp seems a little high tbh. isnt that roughly what a XE would see

in reply to ak.

That doesnt really help me though does it, the 8v is local and as i cant drive atm it seems like a good option to go for, thats why i want to know how they compare to the 16v.

astandard XE was 150bhp and an 8v is 120-125bhp iirc

the 8v has more torque tho and is imo a stronger engine

BUT

book figures are useless as all the engines have either been to the moon and back or thrashed senseless so down on power

personally id go for the 8v and stick some carbs on - old skool rules

ou want to buy a car because its local is not the best reason.

The 16v is the better engine all round. Torque shouldnt be that much of a factor in a small hatch... the 2.0 16v is hardly lacking it

What do you want to do with the car? If its just a daily car i would even look at converted ones, just get an x16xe sport

Because its local and better atm doesn't mean its better in the long run.

I can get someone to drive local, and someone to drive it back or ask the person if they will deliver to me for extra money.

the c20ne is 115bhp the c20seh is the 130bhp one and it actually has LESS torque so the answer is they are alot slower
