How much should i be looking to pay for a full engine rebuild on a red top?

The engine is currently on 150k

I was quoted about £900 for a fresh engine, bar rods,cank,cams etc I think.

DIY, parts come to about £500

You can buy a brand spanker from Vaux for £900ish

Yes. Comes without ancillaries though i.e. electrics, sensors etc.
